Weird: I just got an email confirmation for an airline ticket from LA to DC in my name, sent to my email, pd. w/a credit card I don’t have.

Housekeeping items

Home early today and taking advantage of the time to do some tidying up of my online world. Here’s what’s changed:

  1. My previous (and horribly underutilized) home page has been euthanized. Requiescat in pace.

  2. Its web address (www.larryanderson.org) now points to this page. This page’s previous address (blog.larryanderson.org) is now dead. I would love to have pointed it here as well, but Tumblr doesn’t yet allow two subdomains (in this case, blog and www) to direct to the same page. now redirects to my long-form blog.

  3. As part of all this, mail directed to the larryanderson.org domain is now temporarily being lost in the ether until Google straightens out the records.  Eventually it will redirect to my regular email account.

  4. Additionally, I’m giving up my lazarusanderson.com domain and its associated web pages and mail accounts.

  5. Finally, I have a new domain, larand.tel, where my contact information can be found, and which will be updated as needed.

Short day at work, but at least when I left I was still employed. Alas, some of my co-workers weren’t so lucky. It’s brutal out there.

Californians appear to be remarkably of one mind tonight—a mind that appears ready to descend on Sacramento with pitchforks and tar.

The @latimes election map is giving a server error when refreshed. Bloody infuriating, that.

Some messages in my inbox just kind of stand out…

(I know, it’s probably automated, but still cool)

On today's special election in California

I too voted no on the props today. Our problems stem from the fact that we not only screwed up the property tax base with Prop. 13, but we’ve also voted in idiotic spending mandates like Prop. 98. It’s a recipe for disaster. Plus, we’re gerrymandered out the wazoo, as wGraves said, and while there’s a fix coming for that it hasn’t taken effect yet. The only real fix for all of it is to rewrite the state constitution, since all of those lovely tax cuts and spending mandates were voted in as constitutional amendments. I’m hoping the failure of the props will spur exactly that.

That was the 3rd earthquake in a row that I didn’t feel. As a native Californian, I’m oddly annoyed by that.

If you’re the one who ordered Monday, it was delivered to me by mistake. Come get it.

Hi, I'm Larry--a native Californian, an Orthodox Christian, a history buff, a sci-fi fan, and an unashamed geek. I live in beautiful Ventura, California, and am married to the most beautiful woman in the world (hi, honey!).
